GROUNDHUG DAY by Anne Marie Pace / Book Review

It’s Groundhog Day! Do you think he’ll see his shadow? To celebrate today I’m featuring one of our favorite picture books, GROUNDHUG DAY by Anne Marie Pace, illustrated by Christopher Denise.
It’s Groundhog Day and this group of woodlands is planning a Valentine’s Day party. They’re hoping this year their friend Groundhog can join them. When he sees his shadow, these friends decide they want to help him overcome his fear of shadows.
This adorable story is a celebration of friendship. GROUNDHUG DAY is one of our favorite picture books. I love the combination of February’s holidays in this book, and how it ends on St. Patrick’s Day (since Groundhog saw his shadow). Most importantly, I love how these friends support each other.
This is one darling story that kids of all ages can enjoy. The illustrations are absolutely adorable! If you’re looking for a book that celebrates friendship, Groundhog Day, and Valentine’s Day, pick this one up!

Here's a sneak peak inside this book's adorable illustrations.

ABOUT THE BOOK
Moose is having a Valentine's Day party, and all his friends are so excited! Everyone except Groundhog, that is. If Groundhog sees his shadow outside, he'll hide in his hole for six more weeks and miss the party! Determined to help their friend join them, Moose, Squirrel, Bunny, and Porcupine put their heads together and come up with a plan. But will it be enough to get Groundhog out to play?
This heartwarming picturebook by the author of Vampirina Ballerina, with adorable illustrations by Christopher Denise, is sure to be a hit, whether readers are bursting for spring or snuggling up for six more weeks of winter.

I would be most content if my children grew up to be the kind of people who think decorating consists mostly of building enough bookshelves. ~ Anna Quindlen

Good children's literature appeals not only to
the child in the adult, but to the adult in the child.
